IGG INTEREST BADGE Ladybird Space Option 04 (Trip to the Moon)

Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK

Description

Plan an imaginary trip to the Moon/Space

Resources

4 sets of items that might be taken to space on different coloured card, cut out.
4 copies of the picture of a suitcase

Instructions

Aim of Badge
To understand our place in space.
This Badge has 6 options of which 4 must be completed.

Introduction
Only a few astronauts have gone to the Moon, but humans are planning to go back. The Moon is very different to the Earth, it has no air, no trees, no life, so humans will have to take everything they need with them.
Some astronauts live and work on the International Space Station. They have to take all their food and personal items with them when they go.

Instructions
Explain to the Ladybirds that they are going to play a game about what they (or the unit mascot if you have one) might take to space.
Print four sets of the accompanying pictures on different coloured card.
Cut out the pictures and place at one end of the meeting hall on the floor face down.
Line the Ladybirds up in four lines, one Ladybird from each line must run and turn over a card. If the item should be taken to space the Ladybird brings it back to her group and if it shouldn’t she turns it around face down again. Put the card “into” the suitcase.
The Ladybirds continue to gather cards until they have filled their Ladybird suitcase.
Do all the Ladybirds agree with their group’s suitcase contents?
Is there anything else they think they would need in space? Ladybirds can draw the extra items on the blank cards.
