Write a secret message and make it appear with nothing but your toaster!

Cotton Bud
Toaster

Instructions

Dip the cotton bud in the lemon juice and write or draw a message on your paper with it.
Let it dry.
Turn on the toaster and hold your paper above it. (Don't stick the paper in the toaster and mind your fingers!!)
Your message should appear on the paper.

How does it work?
Lemon juice contains water, sugar and protein. As the lemon joule drys, the water evaporates and leave the sugars and protein crystals in the paper. When heated, a chemical reaction happens, called the Maillard reaction, which turns the sugar and protein crystals brown, so your message magically appears!
