Description

Learn what and when World Thinking Day is (Card for Peace)

Resources

 A4 white card (one sheet per Ladybird)
 pencils/colouring pencils/crayons
 used postage stamps
 glue/Pritt Stick

Instructions

Introduction
Discuss peace with the Ladybirds and that it means to be kind to one another and to be friends. Peace is the opposite to fighting. It is calmness, tranquility and serenity. World Thinking Day is a good time to share peace with other Ladybirds across the world. Explain symbols of peace to the Ladybirds. Examples include doves, an olive branch and the colour white.

Instructions
1. Fold the A4 card/sheet in half to make a card.
2. The Ladybird should write the word ‘peace’ in big letters across the front of the card.
3. Allow each Ladybird to glue the stamps in the outline of the word ‘peace’.
4. On the inside of the card the Leader should write ‘Happy World Thinking Day, From (add Ladybird’s name and name of Unit). You could ask the Ladybirds to write in their own first name.
5. The Leader can arrange for this to be sent to another Ladybird Unit abroad if possible.
6. Another option would be to have the front of the card designed with a dove with an olive branch in its mouth.
