Description
Beavers to walk down to Beach following the green cross code of crossing roads safely, Spilt into our lodges and designated adult leading the group to litter pick the beach. why is it important to minimise rubbish in natural environments. danger to wildlife, the area doesn't look as clean. the damage to the area when the rubbish doesn't erode.
Resources
Gloves, Bin bags, Clipboards, pens, litter pickers. Tally competition.
Instructions
Leave the Hut with all beavers having an awareness of the green cross code to cross the road safely to get to the beach. four adults to support. explain to the beavers what is rubbish and can go in the general waste bag, what is recycling and can be put in our blue bin back at the hut and what is hazardous waste and should not be touched by the beavers as it is not safe.
Spilt into lodges and start a tally competition one category for each lodge to reduce bags that we need. this can be reflected at the end of the activity whether the amount of litter we found on the beach could be recycled after all such as plastic bottles and cans.
in groups ask some food for thought questions such as
why is it important to reduce rubbish in natural environments?
