Common NZ native tree information as part of the Nature Trail activity in Exploring My Community.


Resources

Print outs of information, poster paper and art resources.
Previously visited or seen native trees in real life (if possible).

Instructions

This can be done individually, in pairs or in patrols.

1. Go out and see a range of different NZ native trees and see if the girls can identify any.
2. Let girls look/read through information sheets to gather info about trees.
3. Girls make their own information poster including the following: Common name and scientific name; the height of the tree; information about the bark, flowers, seeds; hand-drawn pictures etc.
4. Present back to the group and/or display.
