Rustys Tea Cup challenge
Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK
Description
Tell your Beavers that Rusty a Beaver leader has set up camp only to find that he has left his tea cup on the otherside of a large and fast flowing river. He has asked you to get his cup without crossing the river.
Resources
Each tea cup pole rescue device will need the following, however you can make as many as the number of groups/teams you have. (Note: A good size is 4-6)
1 x Screw hook
2 x Bamboo poles (bean poles) - NOTE: not too thin or old, need to be strong enough to carry wieght of mug.
2 or more elastic bands
1 x non breakable camp mug with large handle.
1 x tea bag for inside the mug (makes it more tricky)
Rope or something that will make a river (both sides) - best if tied off so they can not step over or push against it too hard.
Table to put the cup/s onto.
Instructions
Split your Beavers up into small groups. Tell them the story of Rusty's cup on the otherside of the river.
Then show them the kit and explain what each bit is used for.
Have them build the tea cup rescue device (Leaders might need to provide rubber band lashing ideas)
Once built as a team without crossing the river see if they can hook the cup and bring it back.
Once complete, see if other members of the team want to be up front guiding the pole to hook again.
