Dog and Bone
Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK
Description
Tactical team game for two teams. Players have a choice of risking a quick grab for the bone and avoiding being tagged or trying to tag their opponent. They can even try to be more cunning and psych their opponent into making an error and forfeiting the point.
Resources
Ropes or cones to mark out each team's line and the half way point.
Bone (a short length of rope loosely coiled and knotted at either end works well).
Instructions
Scouts are split into two teams. Standing behind each teams own line 4 meters apart and facing the other team. In the middle of the gap between the team is place a knotted length of rope - the "bone". The bone should be placed on a line that indicates the halfway point from the teams.
Players on each team are numbered so that there are a pair of numbers (one from each team).
On a number being called, the two players move forward towards the bone. Players must not cross the halfway point until the bone has been touched.
The object to win the point is either:
- to pick the bone up and return behind your own teams line without being tagged or
- to tag the person picking up the bone before they get across their team line.
Important - players lose the point if they cross halfway before the bone is touched or touch their opponent before the bone is touched.
