Description
This simple craft can be used in teaching about Native American cultures (particularly in drier climates). These sticks mimic the sound of raindrops and were often used in ceremonies. They are now also used as soothing tools for music and meditation.
Resources
Paper towel rolls
Duct Tape - coloured
Coloured construction paper
Aluminium foil
Dry rice
Instructions
Cover one end of the roll with duct tape
Place a sausage of aluminium foil in the tube
Fill with rice
Cover the other end of the roll with duct tape
Wrap the roll in coloured construction paper
Wrap duct tape around both ends of the roll to secure
