Description

Mayhem: a bean-bag-madness game for teams.
Best played outside.

Resources

A bucket (not see-through).
1 x bean bag per team (no maximum). Other pieces may be used such as tennis balls.
Demarcation lines or markers.

Instructions

The bucket is placed at a suitable distance away.
The teams are in a fan shape or circle from the bucket, so they each have the same distance to run to the bucket.
Each team has one bean bag at the start. The 1st player runs out with the bean bag and drops it in the bucket, then runs back. The second player runs out, picks up the bean bag, then runs back. This continues throughout the team until each player has run once, or when an allotted time for the round has passed. (This is the simple version).
If there is more than one bean bag in the bucket, the empty-handed player may pick up all bean bags in the bucket, and return to their team. The process then continues with players bringing out one bean bag, or running out empty handed. Teams with more than one bean bag in their possession must continue to bring them out one at a time until they have none left.
As the bean bags are inside the bucket, it is not possible to see whether it is empty or not. A player from each team must be running throughout the round, so they can't watch the game play. The running distance should be short enough to defeat any decision-making gameplay. Players may not stop mid-run and wait.
A referee at the bucket decides in the event of a tie when two empty-handed players reach a bucket, with one bean bag in it, at the same time.
At the end of the round or allotted time, the team with most bean bags wins, or points are awarded to each team according to the number of bean bags they have, or, this could be played as an elimination game, with the team(s) without bean bags being knocked out.
