Description

Craft a ghost and race them along a string.

A very quick craft with simple supplies to make a great Halloween game.

Resources

Tissues
Cotton balls
String/wool - not furry
Straws
Tape
Scissors
Marker

Instructions

Craft a ghost from a tissue over a cotton ball head, tie neck with string/wool.
Draw a face.
Tape a short length of straw to the top of the head. Don’t block the ends of the straw.
Tie at least two strings to one side of the room to race along, tie to a chair leg or similar.
Thread a a ghost onto each string through the straw.
Lift the loose end of the string. Use gravity to make your ghost fly down the string.

Additional tips:
A noticeboard/poster/line on a wall can provide a consistent starting height and distance.
For a longer craft portion make flying spiders instead from egg cartons, googly eyes and pipe cleaners.
For more STEM: experiment with angles/height/length/string type, length of straw on the head, weight of ghost.
“Winner stays on” makes for a flurry of modifications of ghosts and discussion of technique.
