2. Ladybirds achieve their Camp Cape Badge
3. It is a fun and interactive session where they will gain lots of information about camping.


Resources

- Materials to build a tent outdoors or indoors at home.
- Things that you might pack to go to camp but around their houses.
- Food to like pretzels, marshmallows and jellies to make edible campfire.

Instructions

Introduction / Icebreakers
Name game, who are you and where are you from. Pick a word and action to put with your name. (5mins) On Zoom

Activity 1 - Learn what to pack in an overnight bag and how to best pack it.
Let’s learn about what to put in your overnight bag for camp. Game: Scavenger Hunt to find the things you need around your house for your bag. I will call the objects out, Ladybirds/Brownies have a bag ready and go find them one at a time and bring them back to pack in their bags. A point for the first one back each time.

Game: True and False statements about how to pack your bag. (10-15mins). On Zoom

Activity 2 - Learn about the various parts of a tent and how to pitch it

Game: Show various pictures of parts of the tent, see if the girls can name them. Have 2 options of answers,
they guess which is right. Point for every right answer.
Quiz about what do we put up first to pitch a tent, show them actual tent been pitched as we set the tent up.
(15-20mins) on Zoom

Activity 3 – Camping knowledge Quiz
Fun and quick quiz based on everything we covered about tents, how to look after them, other parts of the
badge for ladybirds and brownies like brownie smile, how to look after your tent etc.
(10 -15mins) on Zoom

Approx. 50mins on Zoom.


Activities off line to complete the badge and also be involved in Octagon Camp
• Attend the Octagon Campfire.
• Pitch their own tent and send pictures in to Octagon.
• Make mud prints
• Make an edible campfire and send pictures to Octagon.
