Description
Paper Plate Bearded Christmas Gnome
Resources
- large or small paper plate (one per Christmas gnome)
- paper craft scissors
- pencil
- scrapbook paper (in Christmas colours if you can)
- tan coloured card
- craft glue
- hand-held office stapler
- snowflake stickers or hole punch
Instructions
- Give each Brownie a half a paper plate for their gnome’s beard.
- Along the curved edge of the paper plate half, the girls need to cut small notches that are really close together until they get almost to the other side of the paper plate (make sure the girls don’t cut all the way through the paper plate, accidently cutting it in half). If Brownies need help with this step, you could draw some lines on the plate with a pencil and the girls then cut each line.
- When the paper plate is cut, to make the beard, the Brownies can curl a couple of the strips up and down to give it some texture and some flair. Set the beard aside.
- Next, let each girl take her choice of coloured scrapbook paper from which they must cut out a large triangle. This will be the Christmas gnome’s hat.
- From the tan card, let each Brownie cut out a large oval shape for the nose.
- To finish off each gnome, the triangular hat must be stapled to the paper plate beard.
- Then the noses must be glued in place.
- Brownies can add a few snowflake stickers or paper embellishments to the hat, to tie the winter theme together.
- Then let it all dry completely.
