Description
Sand painting is a Native American meditation/medicine practice common to a number of tribes across the United States.
Resources
Paper
Pencils
Clip Board
Newspaper (to spread on floor)
Glue
Coloured sand
Bowls or plastic pots
Water to rinse hands
Towel to dry hands
Instructions
Using the symbols chart, make your own design on a piece of paper. Start with a symbol in the centre, then add dividing lines to create four spaces surrounding it. Draw in symbols of your choice in each quarter in pencil.
Go over the first symbol with glue.
Sprinkle coloured sand mindfully onto the glue, tip any residue back into the bowl.
Then do the next symbol, being careful not mix colours (unless you want to).
