CARD SHARP TREASURE HUNT
Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK
Description
A Wide Game where young people have to hunt for playing cards, bring them back to base and then answer a Series of Questions to win glory... or a prize!
Resources
A wide playing area
• 4 teams
• 52 playing cards
• Drawing pins, hole punch plus string, for attaching cards as necessary
Instructions
Hide, in plain sight, all 52 playing cards; be imaginative, depending on age group, but not hazardous, with your locations. With our Cubs, each team had a Young Leader keeping an eye on them, as they hunted for cards.
Each team chooses a card Suit - Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs, Spades. They go hunting for their cards, walking round the designated area where cards are located.
They bring back ONLY their own SUIT Cards. (This is a useful Task for YL to do. Cubs identify their Suit, YL collects it along with drawing pins/string. Ta-da. No tidy up. The game comes back to the leaders!)
Once back at base, hand out a question sheet to each team, answer only the questions for which they have a card. (You can add any bonus questions or make it as difficult as you like). Sample supplied here was used for Cub Camp just after Jubilee).
Award prize at end for highest score.
Minor downside depending on the playing area – someone might pinch a card! Can be avoided by adding a label to back of card eg “1st Anywhere Cubs Treasure Hunt do not remove”. Worth a try, no guarantee. We lost 2 cards……but Cubs enjoyed the hunt!
