Description

Four bases covering house safety, stranger safety, calling the emergency services and the Green Cross Code.

Resources

Phone - preferably with numbered buttons on it

Two ropes

Household dangers:
• Pan
• Extension cable
• Toy knife
• Mop (and smooth floor)
• Bottle with danger symbol on label, containing water and food colouring
• Scissors
• Toy candle
• Jumper (or something flammable)
• Iron
• Empty medicine box

Instructions

Allow 10 minutes for each base and then rotate the lodges.

House Safety: Ask Beavers to spot one hazard at a time and ask them why each is dangerous.
Stranger Safety: Discussion about what a stranger is and how we should interact with them.
Calling the Emergency Services: Get each Beaver in turn to respond to a different emergency by calling the emergency services.
Green Cross Code: Discuss the Green Cross Code and then get the beavers to practice crossing a road safely.
