Version 2 - hunt - hide pictures all over the hall and have to find 5 different minibeasts / Animals / Insects / Birds / Fish
Version 3 - hunt - mix the minibeast pictures up with blanks or pictures of other things, turn over on the table and beavers take in turns to take a picture and find a minibeast / Animals / Insects / Birds / Fish (all beavers have to find 5 different ones) or have 30 seconds free for all where they all have to find 5 minibeasts / Animals / Insects / Birds / Fish.
For all versions the Beavers then have to name the different type of minibeast / Animals / Insects / Birds / Fish.
Could also have a discussion about what they eat, the places they might live and which can be found locally.
For Minibeasts (Invertebrates):
Invertebrates make up 97% of all animal life on Earth, and there are around 25,000 different types in the UK.
Some common minibeasts (invertebrates) that you might find in the garden are, ants, bees, butterflies, centipedes, ladybirds, moths, snails, slugs, worms).
Some different types of invertebrates are, insects such as bees and moths, beetles such as ladybirds, arachnids such as cellar spiders, myriapods such as millipedes and centipedes, annelids such as earthworms.
Think about: What do invertebrates have in common? How are some very different to each other?
Why invertebrates are important. What jobs do they do in the animal kingdom? What do they eat? What eats them?
