Recap from last time.
BE KIND ONLINE
ASK: Can anyone tell me what a bully is?
SAY: A bully is someone who does hurtful things on purpose to another person.
ASK: What are the different types of bullying?
SAY: Verbal bullying is saying or writing mean things like teasing, name calling.
Social bullying is hurting someone's reputation, such as not including someone, spreading rumours about someone, embarrassing someone, and encouraging others not to be friends with someone.
Physical bullying is hurting a person’s body or their belonging like hitting or kicking or breaking someone's toys.
ASK: The last type is cyber bullying – can anyone tell me what Cyber bullying is?
Cyber bullying is bullying that happens online – it can be saying or writing mean things online about someone, it can be leaving someone out of an online game, and it can be embarrassing someone online. When we are playing or interacting with others online, we should treat them like we should if we met them face to face
ASK: Can anyone give me any reasons why they think someone might bully someone else?
SAY: They might feel bad about themselves and want to take it out on someone else, they might feel popular or in control if they are bullying other or maybe they don’t know what they are doing is wrong.
ASK: If you are being bullied or see someone else being bullied in person on online, what should you do?
SAY: You should let a trusted adult know what is going on like your parents or your teacher. If you see someone being excluded, you should include them, so they don’t feel left out.
Have the Ladybirds repeat: always be kind online.
BULLYING ROLE PLAY
Break the ladybirds up into four groups.
Assign one scenario to each group (SEE ATTACHMENT 7)
Read the scenario out to the group and ask the ladybirds to come up with a short roleplay to act out for the whole group.
Give each group 15 mins to come up with their roleplay on cyber bullying.
After the group acts out their scenario, use the questions at the end to ensure the unit understands the content and the actions they should take if they find themselves in a similar scenario
