Description

Make a moth trap outside with a sheet and torch,

Resources

Sheet
String or rope
Powerful torch
A dark evening (best on a warm night with light breeze and little cloud cover)

Instructions

Set up the sheet in advance of the meeting if possible. Tie it in a tree or similar so its spread out as much as possible.
Set up a torch to shine onto the sheet. The longer the torch has been on the sheet the more moths you should see. You also need to turn off other nearby lights.

Beavers wrap up warm and go outside to watch the moths.
Talk about the moths. Are they all the same size / type. What do they do on the sheet?

Don't touch the moths as it can damage their wings.
