Games to play with Cubs or Scouts once they have mastered technique, range characteristics and range conduct
Resources
Balloons, dice, twister game, archery equipment
Large sheet of cardboard with noughts and crosses board marked out on it, velcro to allow a nought or cross to be placed on it
Instructions
Accurancy competition
Pop balloons
HORSE - participants get 5 lives and need to complete a challenge shot not to lose one (challenge is different each time and is set by the Range Master)
Noughts and crosses - indicate your chosen square shooting an arrow at a large noughts and crosses board
Pizza - white = base, red = tomato, yellow = cheese, black = burnt (possibly shoot in order)
Cricket - batters score runs until bowlers get a gold (wicket) - score Gold = 6/ Red = 4/ Blue = 3/ Black = 2/ White = 1
Dice with death - shoot random arrows, roll a dice to decide which colour is poison (lose a life)
Eliminator - start with whole target in play then participants need to shoot inside decreasing zones to stay in
Follow my leader - elimination game shoot the same colour as the leader to stay in
Bake off - for a cake you need 2 yellow eggs, 1 blue water, red oven on/ off, black burnt cake
Half & half ( or thirds or quarters) - arrow in your team's section wins you a point, in another team's earns them a point
Higher or lower - shooter declares whether they will score higher or lower than the preceding arrow
Hobbit quest - shoot in order against the accompanying story:
- Over the white Misty Mountains, escaping from the goblins
- Through the black Mirkwood forest, avoiding the spiders
- Escaping from orcs over the blue Long Lake
- Sneak past Smaug, the red dragon
- Steal the gold
Shrinking target - large piece of paper on the target, all shoot then fold it in half and repeat. Miss and you are eliminated
Twister - use the colour shot to determine where to play (pair as shooter and twister player)
