Cubs Local Knowledge

Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK

Description

A talk from someone who has lived in the local neighbourhood for a long time (in our case over 50 years). The talk contains some photos of the old village and incorporates a game of “guess what this is now”.

After this the Cubs have the option to talk to the visitor and ask any questions they have, before using the information from the visitor to create a poster or leaflet advertising part of the local area to a potential visitor.

Resources

Photos in the style of “then and now” - either printed off or on a laptop/projector system

Equipment for making posters - eg paper, felt tips, colouring pencils, scissors, glue etc

Instructions

Talk to the visitor about their experiences of growing up in the local area, and how the local area has changed whilst they have lived there.
Encourage the Cubs to ask questions about life in the local area.
Design a poster to advertise the local area to a visitor.
