Description
Visit from local Police Officers to discuss Road Safety, identify community impact problem (speeding) and take action as part of the young cop initiative to positively impact driver behaviour in the local area.
Resources
Leaders / Adult Helpers to ensure ratio compliance.
Hi-Vis vests.
Laptop / projector (for Police presentation)
Clipboards and Pens.
Instructions
Local Police to attend and talk with Cubs about Road Safety, Personal and Online Safety.
Discuss the possible effects of poor driving in their area. Impacts on them and their friends and families, as well as the drivers themselves. How to keep themselves safe, emergency contact numbers and what information to pass. Basics on how to keep themselves safe online. (30 minutes)
Young Cop Initiative -
Safety briefing / RA to be delivered prior to leaving meeting hall.
Cubs to ensure they are dressed for the weather.
Ensure Hi-Vis vests are worn by all.
Police Officers to discuss and instruct on the use of the speed detection laser.
Drivers detected going over the speed limit to be stopped by Officers and initially spoken to by them and given the option to be dealt with by Police or to answer questionnaire by Cubs.
(Safety / Safeguarding Checks to be conducted by Officers prior to Cubs approaching)
