Description

A cooking challenge in Patrols. This can be run over 2 weeks or as part of a weekend camp.

Scouts are challenged to make a meal with a budget of £5

Resources

Pens & Paper
Stoves/Fires/Access to a Kitchen
Pots and Pans
Cooking Utensils.
Devices with Internet Access

Instructions

Session 1

Explain the rules to the Scouts
Split the troop into small groups of 5 to 6 Scouts (Patrols are ideal for this)
Optional - ask the patrols to draw one or two Joker Cards from a Hat (these add extra rules to the challenge and may make it harder or easier)
Teams work together to plan a menu and produce a shopping list for their dish (leaders to purchase the ingredients)

Session 2

Scouts cook and serve their meal
Leaders judge the meal (criteria could include creativity, taste, presentation, teamwork, use of budget etc)


if your meeting place is close to a supermarket; you could do the activity all in one session and send the Scouts to shop for their ingredients.
