Instructions
Take care of an animal for at least two months. Give it the correct foods, and learn to recognise common traits and habits including how to groom, clean and exercise the animal.
If Cubs don't have an animal to care for at home, they can look after the wild birds, or hedgehogs, if you're lucky enough to have them visit you (making sure there's water and the correct food out for them) and then find out the common traits and habits those animals have, or look up about an animal that a neighbour or relative has perhaps.
Over three months, visit the same natural area at least four times and keep a record of bird, animal or insect life and take at least 10 photographs of what you find.
Virtually visit a zoo, wildlife park, animal sanctuary or rescue centre. Find out about some of the animals you see. What are their feeding habits and natural habitats?
Atlanta Zoo: Panda Cam
Georgia Aquarium: African penguins and Beluga Whales live cam.
Houston Zoo: live cam for various animals
San Diego Zoo: live cams of koalas, polar bears, and tigers.
Monterey Bay Aquarium: Habitat exhibit.
National Aquarium in Baltimore: floor-by-floor tour.
Vancouver Aquarium: live cams
Find out about dangers that threaten wildlife in their natural habitat. Make a poster, collage or drawing to tell someone else what you found out.
