Description
The Race Across Reading Challenge (based on the tv programme Race Across the World) will be a navigation and local knowledge challenge, where sixes will find 12 checkpoints in Reading town centre. Cubs will be given the checkpoints and a town centre map.
Resources
1) 12 Checkpoints selected in Reading town centre
2) Reading town centre pocket map
Instructions
Cubs must navigate across Reading town centre (Berkshire) with the support of parent helpers and young leaders to find all the checkpoints in the quickest time in the hopes of winning shiny medals (first place) and working towards navigation and local knowledge badges. The use of mobile phones to access Google maps by leaders is allowed, if leaders are stuck. They will photograph themselves at the various checkpoints and submit to the organiser/Leader in Charge to confirm the visit to a checkpoint. The start and finish point is the Maiwand Lion in Forbury Gardens.
