Description
Members of the sections take the places ofvthe battleships on the playing board
Resources
Tarp to divide hall
Masking tape to mark out board
Whiteboards with grids marked out
Instructions
Divide the hall into two using the tarp so the teams cannot see each others grids.
Mark out a 10x10 grid on each side of the tarp using the masking tape. Number the columns and letter the rows.
Mark out a 10x10 grid on each whiteboard to record the hits. Number the columns and letter the rows.
Each team hides ships on their grid either verticaly or horizontaly but not diagonally. Each team needs a captain to call out the grid references. Captains take turns calling out row and column coordinates on the other teams grid in an attempt to identify a square that contains a ship.
Hits and misses should be recorded on the whiteboards.
The five ships are:
Carrier, which uses five people
Battleship, which uses four people
Cruiser, which uses three people
Submarine, which uses three people
Destroyer, which uses two people
Each ship must be placed horizontally or vertically across grid spaces—not diagonally—and the ships can't hang off the grid. Ships can touch each other, but they can't occupy the same grid space. They cannot change the position of the ships after the game begins.
The captain checks that coordinate called by the other team on their ocean grid and verbally responds "miss" if there is no ship there, or if there is the person on that coordinate should explode in their most dramatic fashion.
The Captain must announce to your opponent when their ship is sunk. In classic play, the phrase is "You sunk my battleship!"
The first team to sink all five of the other teams ships wins the game.
