Instructions

Ask the following questions to the Ladybirds:

Q: Where in your house can you find water?
A: Answers to include the bath, sink, garden, paddling pool and even the dog’s water bowl etc.

Q: In the swimming pool, why should you hold an adult's hand?
A: To make sure that the Ladybird doesn’t slip and fall into the pool.

Q: When you are at the beach, what colour flag should be up for you to go into the sea while holding an adult's hand?
A: A yellow and red flag.

Q: What colour flag tells you that you can’t swim at the beach?
A: Red flag means it’s not safe to swim at the beach.

Q: When you are on holiday, what must you always wear?
A: We must always use sunscreen and a hat to protect ourselves from the sun.

Q: Who watched over you at the swimming pool or beach?
A: The lifeguards are always watching out for our safety.

Q: In the swimming pool, why do we use the steps or ladder?
A: We must use the steps or ladder to get in or out of the pool safely and be with an adult.

Q: Why are we not allowed to run around the edge of the swimming pool?
A: We might slip and get hurt or fall into the water.

Q: Why should an adult see you at all times when you are near water?
A: An adult has to see me at all times to keep me safe near water.

Q: Is it okay to be left in the bath alone?
A: No, it’s dangerous to be left alone in the bath because I might slip and hurt myself.
(We don’t want to frighten the Ladybirds by looking for them to mention that they might drown).

Q: Whose hand should you hold when you're near water?
A: An adult.
