Description

Predicting the pH of different liquids using pH paper and some fun science

Resources

pH paper
Water
Vinegar
Lemon juice
Sodium Bicarbonate dissolved in water
Soapy water

Instructions

Discuss what pH is and what each liquid's pH might be, then fill five jars with the liquids above and get cubs to dip pH paper into each jar and note the colour. Use the colour scale provided to determine each liquid's pH. Ask about the results and see how far out the predictions were.

stop this at 1 minute 25 seconds as afterwards, it may give away whether some liquids being tested are acids or alkalis.
