Instructions
Introduction: Making an Irish flag and shamrock: Our national flag is primarily an emblem of peace, a call for solidarity, mutual trust, sisterhood and brotherhood, to become the enduring symbols of the Irish nation. The shamrock is also recognised as a symbol of Ireland. Saint Patrick, one of Ireland's patron saints, is said to have used it as a metaphor for the Christian Holy Trinity.
Instructions:
TO MAKE AN IRISH FLAG
Cut an A4 sheet in half or quarters and draw two lines to make a tri-colour template.
Starting on the left side, colour the first section green, allow the second section to remain white and colour the section on the right-hand side orange.
Using the glue or tape, attach the flag to the flagpole on the back of the green side.
TO MAKE SHAMROCK
Using your card create heart shaped templates in a size to suit your needs.
Each child should draw out and then cut three hearts.
Stick them on a white sheet to make a shamrock shape.
Draw in a stem with a black marker.
