Description

As part of Australia Day programme show the children the unforms of a Joey Scout & Cub Scout

Resources

Pictures are attached of my son's old uniforms. I will show them the real uniforms.

combine with other activities on OSM such as
Joey under a blanket (game)
Australia matching game
Fairy Bread ( found at every children's party)

Instructions

1) Ask the children whats the same:
The Scout badge is the same across the world
They wear neckers
The colony group name tapes

2) What's different:
The Bronze & Silver awards (see cub uniform) are called the Bronze and Silver boomerang
They have an Australian flag on their uniform
Special ANZAC day badge - earned by attending the Annual ANZAC parade on 25th April ( similar to Remembrance day but is a very important event each year)

3) Joey Scout Promise:
On my honour
I promise that I will do my best
To do my duty to my God, and
To the Queen of Australia
To help other people, and
To live by the Scout Law

Compare to Beavers promise

4) Joey Scout Motto
Help Other People (HOP)

The children form a circle and Hop like Kangaroos (3 hops saying Help Other People) and is part of either an opening or closing ceremony (have seen it used this way depending on the programme they were running that day)
