Growing a broad bean in a clear cup or jar to study the germination process

Resources

A clear jar or plastic cup

Soil or wet kitchen roll

A broad bean

Jug of water

Instructions

Take the container and half fill with soil OR wet kitchen roll

Push the bean in to the soil or about half way down the paper

Add water

The children can then take the container home and should see germination within the week. They can bring it back or report back their findings at the next session

To make this a bit longer or more fun, bring stickers for the squirrels to decorate their container
