Description
The aim of this exercise is for the group to use the learnings from part two to consider the prevalence of engineering in their lives.
The girls will gain an understanding of engineering in their everyday lives.
Resources
Attached Engineering is Everywhere colouring sheet.
Colours (crayons, markers, or pencils)
Instructions
Ensure each girl has a colouring sheet. Instruct the girls to colour in the sheet with the following instructions:
If on their walk/ ramble around the local area/ unit, they found examples of:
• Electronic engineering (e.g. traffic lights, lightbulbs, appliances) - Colour the tents red.
• Mechanical Engineering (e.g. cars, bikes, doors, window latches) - Colour the backpack blue.
• Software Engineering (e.g. phones, tablets, laptops, wi-fi routers) - Colour the treehouse yellow.
• Chemical Engineering (e.g. food, makeup, plastics) - Colour the mug green.
• Civil/Structural Engineering (e.g. roads, bridges, buildings) - Colour the torch orange.
After the colouring instructions are followed, the girls are free to colour in the rest of their picture in whatever way they choose!
