Description
Plow-point style shelter held up with a bipod
Resources
Tarp or Poncho at least 2x1.5 metres
Two light-weight pioneering or walking poles, not less than 1.7m long
1.5m Cord for lashing
2 to 3m Cord for guy line
4 pegs
Small stick
Instructions
Lie the two poles next each other aligned from top to bottom and find the point on the poles that corresponds to the length of the short edge of the tarp.
At that point use a shear lashing to join the poles together.
Open the resulting bipod out into a squashed X shape.
Tie a small loop, e.g. overhand loop, bowline, at the end of the guy line.
Pass the loop through a corner gromet of the tarp and make a Marlinspike Hitch, and lock the small stick into the hitch.
With the bipod supported upright, feed the guy line over the top cross-section and hold.
A second person should now peg-in the diagonal opposite gromet of the tarp.
Extend the guy line and peg in the end at 90 degrees to the bipod, using a Marlinspike hitch to secure the peg.
Peg-in the two remaining corners of the tarp next to the associated feet of the poles.
