Description

Using GPS receivers patrols race across a local park to identify landmarks at waypoints.

Resources

GPS receivers, 1 per patrol.
List of waypoints, 1 per patrol with sufficient waypoints that each patrol member gets a chance to practice.

Instructions

Prior to the activity the leader needs to prepare lists of waypoints to landmarks in their local park / safe area where they can safely practice using a GPS receiver. Use the same list of waypoints for each patrol but mix up the order so each patrol will visit the landmarks in a different order.

During the event each patrol is given a GPS receiver and a list of waypoints. The objective is for each patrol to visit each waypoint and note the landmark at each location. The first patrol that completes this is the winner.
