Description
Cubs make Top Trumps cards, and we’ll go round and ask individuals a few questions which go towards their Teamwork and World Challenge badges; some Cubs have already answered these questions so we won’t ask them again (you can check if they’ve done it in the Badges area of OSM).
Resources
Pens/pencils
Paper
Scissors
Instructions
To meet badge requirements:
Ask an adult to send in a photo of each of your cards (we need to be able to see the scores please, as this will feed into future programme plans).
The questions:
We’ll ask the following questions; some Cubs might want to think about their answers before the meeting so they know what they are going to say:
- Give examples of two different types of teams, and roles in those teams
- Speak about a time when you were part of a team and what you did to help your team, and how you were a good team player
- Talk about a time when you did your best, and explain how you have kept your promise & law:
The Cub Scout Law:
Cub Scouts always do their best
Think of others before themselves
And do a good turn every day.
The Cub Scout Promise:
I promise that I will do my best
to do my duty to God and to the Queen,
to help other people
and to keep the Cub Scout Law
(There are different versions of the Promise so you might have said something slightly different; the different versions can be found here: https://members.scouts.org.uk/documents/Cubs/Cub%20Scout%20Promise%20poster.pdf.)
Top Trumps
Split a piece of A4 in to 6 cards, and cut them out
Write an activity at the top of each card, and draw a picture if you like. Each card should be a different activity you have done, or would like to do at Cubs. Try to have at least one example of:
- Something you like
- Something you don’t like
- Something you have found, or would find, easy
- Something you have found, or would find, a bit more difficult
- Something you think someone else at Cubs would like to do
You’ll need to score each activity between 0 and 10 for the following (10 being good/easy):
- Fun
- Inside (how well would the activity be run inside?)
- Outside (how well would the activity be run outside?)
- Skill (would you need to learn something new?)
- Equipment (does it require a lot of equipment? Is it equipment you have at home?)
If you finish quickly, make some more cards!
