Final email to Explorers:
Quick email covering what we put out in the WhatsApp chat, as we are out and about this evening. If you are not on the explorer chat (parents have their own one) please ask for an invite.

Meeting Location: Start and end at the hut, 19:30 to 21:30.

Activity: Its time to test and rate the local chippies, we will supply some cash and two locations for you to purchase a large chips. (Keep the receipt!). Your team will then need to rate the chips on portion size, heat, salt/vinegar, soggyness and overall flavour (so yes you eat them). As well as the shop on friendlyness of staff, cleanliness, range of food and cost. Write this all down, then use your radio operator to phone this info home to the hut so we can see just how far our handhelds will / wont work.

Kit:
Scarf (required) and hoody if you have one.
Walking kit, being urban walk this is light touch but 10% chance of rain, may get cold, plan appropriately.
Torch + visible clothing / item. While urban and we not specifying hi-vis, you do want to be seen when walking for safety. Take extra care crossing roads and try to cross at controlled crossings as you are a group.
Radio, if qualified please bring your HAM radio as we will be working on 2m and 70cm bands. Make sure you charge it and advise leaders of your call sign.
Charged mobile phone with map option useful
Personal cash (optional) if you want to buy your own food at chip shop stops on top of the 'test' portion. As a group you will get 1 large chips to share at each of the 2 chip shops you visit.

Usual rules apply, stay together, stay in touch with leaders and be back on time (21:20). We not out too late, but you are out representing yourselves and scouting so please keep the noise levels reasonable. If you get into any issues, we have a mini bus to recover you and some may be dropped off initially.

Look forward to seeing you all this evening, and finding the explorers choice for chips... If anyone would like to design an award / certificate for the winning shop it would be great to present this to them after half term!

Regards,
