Egg shaped card that contains a Chick

Resources

Card - white or any coloured you want
Straws or lolly sticks or skewers
Sellotape (or you can use glue)
Scissors
Felt pens

Instructions

Cut two oval shapes out of card per child - I used 200g card but you could use any thickness depending on what you have in stock
Cut a Chick shape out of a different colour card (or colour in white card) - chick can have wings cut out as part of shape or cut two wing shapes and stick on to the chicks body - the chick needs to fit inside the oval

Decorate one side of the oval shape these are your egg
on one draw a zig zag from side to side (as if the egg had cracked open) - once decorated cut along the zig zag side
this leaves you one complete oval and one oval with the top cut off.

Glue the top of the cut off oval to the head of the chick shape
Draw on Eyes and a beak to your chick shape
Stick the chick to the straw or lolly stick

Assemble your card so you have a back of an egg with the half shell front of the egg on the top - I sellotaped round the egg - leaving a gap at the bottom for the straw to go through - you could glue it if you prefer
slide the chick with the top of the egg on its head into the egg shell
The chick should slide up and down so it looks as if it is popping out of the shell
