Description

Make a map of your meeting place using natural materials. This could be through using thing's such as twigs, pine cones, dead grass, rocks or anything else that can be found in nature.


Resources

- Cones to mark out a square to make maps in.
- Natural materials found outdoors.

Instructions

1) Split Scouts into small groups, make a 7 x 7 square using cones for each group.
2) Explain that they will be making maps of their local meeting place using natural materials.
3) Have the scouts discuss as a team what they are going to design, and what materials they need to do this.
4) Have the scouts go outdoors and look for the materials, or take them to a local woods.
5) Have them design their maps, and then look at other groups maps and reflect what could they have done better? What did they do well?
