Description

Session to ensure all participants can safely use a Trangia to cook a simple meal.

- focus on choosing foods they can cook with max 2 pans (whether it's gas rings or Trangias)
- regular camp food (rather than lightweight only)
- offer 5 ish options to be voted on in advance, of which they choose 2-3 to try out
- cooking in groups as small as we can practically cope with so they all learn something

Misc catering items as required by the recipes in use (chopping boards, knives, graters, tin openers, scales, measuring jugs and spoons, mashers etc)
Washing up equipment (bowls, sponges, dishsoap, tea towels)

Hi all, slight change of plan for this Friday as we are still a little short of leaders and time.

We are going to ask for your help in testing out some camp recipes, to add to a resource pack for all Explorers to use when planning camps.

We will bring all the ingredients for you, and will need you to test the recipes and give us feedback on the clarity of the instructions, how it tastes, portion sizes etc.

Here are 5 options we’d like to test out - please could you vote for your favourite and we’ll bring ingredients to make the top 3 most popular recipes

Here are my suggestions:
- All-in One spicy pork and rice (only slightly spicy)
- Quick chilli con carne (veggie and dairy-free option available), can be served with pasta, wraps of tortilla chips
- Meatballs and cheesy mash
- Bibi chicken (creamy chicken and tomato pasta dish)
- Camp KFC (crispy fried chicken, to stuff in a bun or serve with rice)


Printing list:

- 2 x copies of each of the three recipes
- 1-page Trangia safety picture sheet thingy
- ⁠feedback sheets so we know what worked and what didn’t (important)
