Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK
Description
A mash up of Baloo's cup of tea, and a treasure hunt played as a wide game.
This particular game is set around Lloyds Park, Croydon, but the clues can be adapted to the area you have.
Resources
A set per patrol of:
Clues (see attachment)
8 clothes pegs
A Trangia, billie/kettle and burner
Water
Mug
Tea bag
Pot of Milk
Tea spoon
Box of matches
Table - or somewhere to balance the trangias
Fire bucket
Meths
String and means of cutting it
Instructions
The aim of the game is to collect everything you need to make a cup of tea and to make it. Although instead of resources hidden, we are giving you pictures that you will trade in for the resources.
Set up one
Print a copy of the clues per patrol. Ideally on different coloured paper. So blue hunts blue clues etc. NB the last page is the last clue. You only need one clue per team
Cut out the pictures and clues. The first clue will not have a picture. The rest will need a picture glued to the back.
If you are in the dark, you may want some luminous paint on each card.
Work out the order that the clues will be and note where each one will be hidden. eg
Slide clue - available at the start
Disc golf clue (with stove photo on back) - hidden at the slide
Fallen tree clue (with burner photo on back) - hidden at disc golf
Allotment clue (with mug photo on back) - hidden at fallen tree
Gym clue (with tea bag photo on back) - hidden at allotment
Cafe clue (with teaspoon photo on back) - hidden at the gym
Tram clue (with matches photo on back) - hidden at the cafe
Tennis court clue (with pot of milk photo on back) - hidden at the cafe
Return to start clue (with water container on back) - hidden at the tennis court
Each patrol should have a different order so that they are not following each other.
Set up two
Hide the clues in the park in the noted locations. Using the clothes peg to clip it to a location. If you are in the dark or a very wide area, you might want to make them fairly obvious. You can use the string if it is difficult to clip somewhere.
Set up three
A table or location for Scouts to safely light Trangia's and boil water.
Instructions
Scouts are to locate their cards and trade them in for the relevant resource. They should also bring in the peg their clue was on. They MUST leave other cards in situ. If they are the last team to a location, they should bring in any material left, eg string.
They must stay together.
Set the boundaries, in our case it is do not cross the tram lines. None of the clues require you to cross the tram lines.. Do not leave the park, even the one on the far north side is inside the park.
Once they have all the resources, they need to make a cup of tea to the leaders satisfaction. The first patrol to make a decent cup of tea is the winner.
