To learn about fire prevention and what to do in the event of a fire

This Badge has 8 options of which 8 must be completed

Introduction
Brownies will gain and understanding of why water and oil never mix.

Instructions
• Bring Brownies into Pow-wow circle
• Leader begins the discussion by explaining, many types of fires can be put out with water, but there's one you should keep away from water: Fat/grease fires.

• Why can’t you use water to put a fat fire out?
Oil and water don’t mix. (See overleaf for full explanation)

• Leader demonstrates by adding oil to container, then top up with water. Water will sink to bottom. Shake the container to mix the two. In a short time, they will separate and water will sink to the bottom.

• Ask the Brownies where they think fat fires usually occurs?
A fat fire usually occurs in the kitchen when cooking oil becomes too hot

• Leader demonstrates how to put out a fat fire in the kitchen (see overleaf)
