Goal: Feel what an “ice giant” might be like. Can freeze in different sizes to show size of ice planets in relation to one another

Balloons
A tap
Blue food colouring
Beads/glitter (glitter for younger scouts to avoid choking hazard)

Instructions

Freeze water mixed with blue food coloring and small toys or beads inside balloons (for “planets”).
• Once frozen, peel the balloon and let kids touch, observe melting, and describe how cold and slippery it is.
• Talk about Uranus and Neptune’s icy composition.
