Description

A jump rope game using a long piece of rope with a rubber quoit attached to the end.


Resources

A large space, a rope of at least 5 metres length with a quoit or similar weighted item tied to the end.

Instructions

Cubs are invited to stand in a large circle, spaced out with at least a 50cm gap between them. A Leader, young leader, or other volunteer stands in the centre of the circle and spins, gently letting out the rope on each turn to gather momentum as the cubs jump over it when it reaches them. This motion emulates helicopter blades spinning, hence the name. When a cub fails to jump over the quoit, stopping the rope spinning, they are out of the game. The leader resumes spinning the rope, usually tagging in other volunteers to avoid anyone becoming dizzy!
