Description

Charades is a game of pantomimes: you have to "act out" a phrase without speaking, while the other
members of your team try to guess what the phrase is. The objective is for your team to guess the
phrase as quickly as possible.

An adult per team

Instructions

Divide the players into two teams, preferably of equal size.
Adult draws a card from the deck and acts it out.
Beavers have to guess what the Adult is acting out.
The Beaver who guesses correctly then draws a card from the deck and becomes the actor.
If no one guesses correctly, the actor can draw another card from the deck.
Get through a many charades as possible in 15 minutes.

Categories:
• Book: Open your hands and pretend you are opening a book
• Movie or Film: Pretend you are using an old movie camera, holding with one hand and winding with the other
• Person / Character: Place your hands on your hips and stand tall
• Place: Draw earth (a circle) in the air with your fingers and point to it
• Song: Pretend to sing a song by cupping your hand to your mouth and then moving your hand away and up while opening your hand
• TV Show: Draw a TV with your fingers - simply a rectangle in the air will do (you can add antennas if you like!)
• Video Game: Hold your hands like you're gripping a video game controller and twiddle your thumbs
• Animal: Hold your two hands out as if they’re claws
• Action or Activity: Point two fingers down and wiggle them while moving your hand left or right (as if showing your hand is walking)

Gestures:
• Number of words in the title: Hold up the number of fingers.
• Which word you're working on: Hold up the number of fingers again.
• “A” steeple index fingers together.
• “I” point at your eye, or your chest.
• “The” use your index fingers to make a T.
• Close, keep guessing: Spin your hands in a circular motion imitating a spinning wheel towards a person who is close to correct guess
• Correct guess: Point at your nose with one hand, while pointing at the person with your other hand
