Instructions
1. Set the Scene: Find a safe area for the Cubs to practice fire lighting techniques with a leader present.
2. Gather Materials: Provide examples of different types of tinder, kindling, and firewood.
3. Safety Briefing: Discuss safety around fire, including the importance of having water available and wearing appropriate clothing.
4. Demonstration:
- Show how to strike a match safely, discussing the importance of dry tinder and kindling.
- Demonstrate which types of materials ignite best and how to layer wood correctly for a fire.
5. Practice: Allow Cubs to practice lighting tinder under supervision, reinforcing the safety rules discussed.
