Description

A thrilling game where Squirrels work together to avoid being tagged by the leaders, who are the foxes! This variant fosters teamwork while keeping the excitement of the original game.

Resources

None needed besides a suitable play area.

Instructions

Preparation: Divide Squirrels into teams, depending on the number of participants, with each team representing a group of Squirrels. Assign a name to each team (e.g. colours)

Designate Foxes: The leaders take on the role of the foxes and explain their objective: to tag as many Squirrels as possible. Adjust number of foxes based on number of squirrels

Play Area: Mark the boundaries of the play area clearly. Consider adding “safe zones” where Squirrels can rest but can’t stay for more than a few seconds.
Gameplay:

Gameplay:
-At the start of each round, the leader (or a designated call-out) will shout one or more team name or “Scurry!”
-Squirrels of the corresponding team name have to run to the opposite side of the play area and avoid being tagged
-When “Scurry!” is called, all Squirrels must run to the other side of the play area.
-The foxes can only take two steps to try and tag Squirrels as they run. After the two steps, foxes must freeze. (adjust if too easy/hard)
-Squirrels who get tagged must freeze and can only be unfrozen by teammates running back to them.

Team members must work together to avoid getting tagged. If tagged, they freeze.

Winning: The game continues for a set time (e.g. 10 minutes), after which the teams that have the most Squirrels untagged or have successfully untagged their teammates are declared the winners.
