Description

Children get to explore their creativity by designing a fun 3D clown face using simple craft materials.

Resources

- paper cups
- Markers or crayons
- Child-safe scissors
- small, uninflated balloon
- Tape or glue
- Optional: stickers, googly eyes, pom-poms

Instructions

- Prepare the Cup: Place the paper cup upside down on the table.
- Make the Nose Hole: Use child‑safe scissors or a pencil to poke a small hole in the centre of the cup’s base. This is where the clown’s nose will go.
- Draw the Clown’s Face
Using markers or crayons, draw:
* Eyes
* Mouth
* Cheeks
* Add any extra details the children like.
- Add the Balloon Nose: Push the bottom end of the uninflated balloon through the hole from inside the cup so the opening sticks out the front.
- Inflate the Nose: Gently blow up the balloon until it forms a small clown nose, then tie a knot to keep the air in.
- Decorate the Clown:
* Use pom‑poms or yarn to make fun hair
* Stick on googly eyes if you have them
* Glue or tape on a paper bowtie
* Add stickers or any other decorations
Or children could just use colouring pencils or pens
- Play With It: When the balloon inside the cup is pressed, the clown’s nose should inflate a little more, creating a fun 3D effect.
