Instructions
- The Beavers line up at one end of the hall. The leader stands at the other end of the hall with his/her back to the beavers.
- The beavers call out in unison "what can we eat, junk food Jim (or Jane)?"
- Jim replies by calling out the name of a food. If it is a healthy food, beavers take a step forward. For unhealthy food they must stay still. Any beavers who step forward for unhealthy food must go back to the start.
- If Jim calls out "Junk food", beavers must run back to the start. Jim will try and catch them. Any caught will join the leader and help him with catching on future rounds.

Foods That Look Healthy… but Are Actually “Sometimes Foods”
(Often high in sugar, salt, or fat even though they have a healthy image)
Fruit juice (especially cartons) – lots of sugar, very little fibre
Smoothies – even though they have fruit, they can contain a lot of sugar
Flavoured yogurt – can have as much sugar as a dessert
Breakfast cereal (many popular ones) – very sugary despite fun packaging
Granola – often packed with sugar, oil, and honey
Cereal bars / breakfast bars – basically biscuits in disguise
Sports drinks – designed for athletes, not everyday play
Low‑fat foods – often have extra sugar added
Fruit snacks / fruit leathers – usually sweets pretending to be fruit
Shop‑bought muffins – more like cake than bread
Foods That Look Unhealthy… but Are Actually “Everyday Foods”
(Often avoided, but are nutritious and filling)
Cheese – good for bones (calcium), just don’t overdo it
Eggs – great protein and brain food
Milk – helps bones and teeth
Butter (a little bit) – not bad, just not loads
Bananas – sweet but very healthy
Peanut butter (small amounts) – good fats and protein
Potatoes (not fried) – give energy and fibre
Rice – good energy for growing bodies
Pasta – especially wholewheat
Red meat (plain, not processed):
Beef
Lamb
✅ Good source of iron and protein
