Description

This activity aims to encourage Guides to reduce their consumption of clothes by exploring how you can give new life to old clothes.

Resources

• Old clothes

Instructions

1. Hold a clothes swap in your unit – ask the Guides to bring in clothes that they may not want/use anymore. Make sure the clothes are clean and wearable before putting them out.
2. Sort the clothes into different pieces – tops, trousers, dresses, etc. and spread them out.
3. Get the Guides to assemble an outfit from the clothes available to them, they can work individually or in small groups.
4. When the Guides are happy with their thrifted look, hold a mini fashion show as a Unit to show how we can give clothes new life.
5. If there’s items left over, organise to bring them to a clothes bank or charity shop.
