Description

To make bird feeders with coconut oil and pine cones

Resources

Wild bird seeds, pine cones, string and lard

Instructions

To make bird feeders with coconut oil and pine cones, you can coat the pine cone with coconut oil or peanut butter, then roll it in birdseed.

Steps
Tie a string to the top of the pine cone to create a loop for hanging.
Melt coconut oil in a bowl.
Spread the coconut oil over the pine cone, including in any gaps.
Pour birdseed onto a plate or tray.
Roll the pine cone in the birdseed, shaking off any excess.
Hang the feeder in a tree or bush.

Tips
Use open pine cones so you have room to spread the peanut butter or coconut oil.
Hang the feeder somewhere birds can reach it while perched on a branch.
You can also use peanut butter or shortening instead of coconut oil.
Coconut oil contains medium-chain fatty acids that are beneficial for birds.
