Debate: The under-16 social media ban
Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK
Description
A small-group debate that works with as few as three or four Explorers. Sides are picked by coin toss, and nobody can reply until they’ve summed up the other side’s last point (“what I heard was…”). Evidence comes from online only, written on cards with the source and marked fact or opinion. Halfway through, the teams swap sides and argue the opposite. Finish by dropping the sides for a chat about what people really think, how it felt to be listened to, and how easy it was to tell whether their evidence was reliable.
We used the motion “The government is right to ban social media for under-16s”, but any topic they have a stake in works.
